A weekend filled with Canning, General Conference, and Cookies

Today is the first day you can join Stampin Up for $25

My husband Mark spent Saturday
making salsa and roasted peppers too

Saturday and Sunday were spent

Luann my sister in law made these yummy
pumpkin chocolate chip cookies!

I can see I NEED to get her recipe!
These are Jim's most favorite cookies

When I was at the store this morning,
I bought some pomegranate juice
(it says from concentrate)
They came in 1.05 quart bottles

I mixed both bottles in a large pan
with 4 packs of sure jell
I like my jelly thick.

Bring it to a boil so that can not be stired down.

the pat of butter is supposed to keep it from foaming as much

once it boiled I added 2 quarts + 2 cups of sugar
(So the recipe I used ended up to be, about half juice half sugar)

I keep a bowl next to the stove to hold my
whisk and measuring cup.
The drips get a bit sticky
and this allows for easier clean up

after adding the sugar I brought it to a full boil again for 2 min.

To soften the lids I boiled water in the microwave
and put the lids in that hot water to sit

When they are finished cooling
I'll wipe the jars with vinegar water to
get rid of any water spots on the lids/jars.

Thanks to my neighbor Joy for loaning me her jar grabber

Post Note:
Thanks Ken finding our grabber so I'll have it for next time!

May God bless you and your family,
Sherrill Graff

I talked to Scott on SOS Radio this morning and told him

When my husband lost his job I increased my working hours
to full time and helped pay our 1,060. house payment, 1,377. health insurance bill,
and our power bill as well.

I love that I can work as much or as little as I want to.

Can you have too much bling, or too many kind deeds - I think not

The colors for this card came to me while I was sleeping and
just starting to wake up.
I can't help it if I am so obsessed with stamping, it is a big part of my life.
I'm addicted and I really don't want a cure. YET

Stamping brings me a lot of joy
and I have been trying each day to give a card away.
I hope my cards bring a smile to the faces of the friends I give them too.

The weather is finally cooling down in the mornings here in
Southern Nevada
So I have spent a bit of time over the last couple mornings
getting rid of the crab grass in our flower garden.

(My guess is the name crab grass must have come from the first person
who tried to pull it and it made them "crabby" because crab grass
is stubborn and thick!)

I knew I had to get rid of the weeds roots if I want my weeding to last.
I got out the shovel and dug it up one square foot at a time.
I'm only about 2/3rds the way done but it's already looking much better.

This garden will always have fond memories for me
it's where our children got their photos taken the fist of every school year.

While weeding I was thinking about the crab grass in my life
how some things can be allowed to grow into such an addiction
and may crowd out some of the good things
we should be making time for.

~ moderation in all things ~

As I read my scriptures and pray each day, I try and think about the things
I should or could be doing to serve my family and neighbors.

While Mark and the boys were in Utah I decided
to do something nice for each of them
I cleaned both the boys rooms and washed all the
clothes they had left on the floor.

I left big piles of clean clothes on their beds for when they returned.

I also took the time to clean out Marks car since he had taken mine to Utah.

It's amazing what things we neglect
when we are trying to make a living,
and gain an education.

May each of us take a look at our lives
and get rid of the crab grass
and spend a little extra effort doing things that
may bless our lives and the lives of others.

Now it's time to start planting good things
where the bad things were
to keep the crab grass from coming back again.

After all the new plants are in

If sure feels good to see all this progress!

I'd like to wish my Husband Mark
a Happy Anniversary
August 25th

30 years!
So thankful to be
Married to YOU
